What to do if you would like your child to take the test
- If your child goes to a Buckinghamshire LA primary school you don’t need to do anything – they are automatically registered for the Secondary Transfer Test automatically.
- If your child goes to any other school you will need to register them for Secondary Transfer Testing. Normally the registration deadline is June so please check directly with the Bucks council to confirm the exact deadline for the given year
When are the test dates for these exams?
Typically there are 2 tests. Firstly there is a practice test which takes place 2-3 days before the final test. The final test is typically the second week of September
Will your child get a Grammar School place if you do not live in the borough?
This depends on their performance during the 11 plus Exams and also worth point out, their chance is diminshed if you do not live in the catchment area.
The grammar schools are very popular. You should probably think carefully before you apply for a place. Children who live in the catchment area get given a place before those that live outside of it.
Also, children living in some areas are unlikely to be offered a place. This includes most of the London boroughs, Reading, Berkshire, Surrey and Wokingham. Check your area here.
